October Stamp of the Month: Very Merry Christmas

I know, it's October 1st and the high in Phoenix is 102 degrees today!  But it's time to start gearing up for the holidays.  Christmas is 12 weeks away.  The October Stamp of the Month is loaded with holiday images to help you create cards, gifts, and scrapbook pages. 

Here's a quick card I made this weekend. I made my own patterned paper using the image of the tree and presents. That little added shimmer is Shimmer Trim self-adhesive ribbon (Item #Z1799). I love it!

October Playgroup featuring Moonlight Products

Scholastic is Fantastic

I often tell my kids to stop growing because I want to keep them in their precious youthful states.  Thanks to these scrapbook layouts I can hold on to those memories even if my kids won't obey me and stop growing up.  I used a new CTMH paper kit called Scholastic for these memories of my kindergartener.  He is in second grade now, and I wonder where did the time go?  I know it will only get worse.

Shaker Card Tutorial

I recently made 10 of these cards for a swap.  The theme of the swap was Moving Cards.  If you shake the card the sand moves.  Here's how I did it:

I cut card templates and the frame and "window" (which is a peice of acetate - overhead projector film) using my Art Philosophy Cricut cartridge.

Next I stamped images I wanted to see behind the window on to my card base.  I used Just Chillin C1495.  Inks are Pacifica, Lagoon and Smoothie.

Attach the plastic window to the frame using Liquid Glass Z679. I love this product and it dries really fast.

You'll only need a thin line of Liquid Glass.  The plastic film I used had a rough side and a smooth side.  I put the rough side facing the inside of the card.

 

Attach double-sided 3D foam tape Z1151 to all sides of the frame on the side with the window glued onto it.  You need to make sure all gaps are closed with the tape so your shaker material does not escape.

Pour a small amount of sand, beads, or whatever your shaker material is onto the base of your card.  Dust the debris off the card so you can attach your frame to a clean surface.

 
Remove the paper from the foam tape to reveal the sticky strip and place the frame over the sand and stamped image.  Press down all sides to make sure you have good contact.  You don't want sand escaping. 

Embellish as desired. I added some hemp.  Isn't it cute?

By the way, that's me "just chillin" on the beach in Morro Bay, California.  It was so cold.  The water was about 53 degrees and the air temp was about 70 degrees.  We had to bury my son so he could get warm.
